Traumatic injuries can involve: whiplash, facet irritations and general muscle tightness. Whiplash as a condition in its own right does not technically exist- merely suggesting the type of onset rather than the physical outcome. Other conditions involving the neck may be linked to activity or posture, commonly headaches may be linked to the position of the neck so consideration of work or desk set-ups is vitally important. When looking at a good working neck it has to be both strong and mobile, the average head may weigh between 12-15 lbs - the same as a bowling ball, so keeping it well control and balanced on the shoulders is important in avoiding injuries and pain.
